Staying in the Bubble September 28, 2011Posted by Edwin Ritter in Trends.
I have had my share of ups and downs over the last few years, same as everyone else. Along my most recent journey, I have appreciated what I have more than in times past. That is, I reminded myself more frequently about the good things. Use whatever cliche you like – in the zone, being comfortable, living the life, in the bubble.
I’d like to stay here for a while. Nice place – healthy, enjoyable company, gainful employment, love and happiness. All good things and enough for me and mine.
Ah, but the best laid plans, eh? To borrow from an election campaign slogan, are things better than there were 4 years ago? For myself, life is about the same overall. For many others, not so much. Natural disasters. Job loss. Health problems. There are many in worse shape than I. I have helped them as best as I can. Contacts. Connections. Sounding board. We don’t read about statistics anymore – we are the statistics. Pick a topic and you are impacted or directly know someone who is. We can get through this together – control what we can and trust in others to do their best toward the common good.
The most effective change starts within ourselves. The man in the mirror. Make a difference. Help someone else stay in the bubble and you may get there yourself soon. If you are already there, stay a while and I hope it does not burst.
